Caring for your Sheepskin
Regular Care
We recommend keeping your sheepskin out of direct sunlight & shaking outside regularly to restore bounce to the fibers and and remove loose dust.
Comb long wool with a wide tooth comb to detangle fibers & preserve the natural curl pattern.
Spot Cleaning
Immediately blot any liquids with a damp cloth until the stain has lifted. Take care to not overwet the sheepskin.
Washing Instructions
These skins are natural, untreated wool and leather and are machine washable.
Hand or machine wash your hide using a cool wash at 85 degrees with a gentle detergent.
If that is not available you may also use the wool/handwash cycle.
When the cycle has finished gently shake the sheepskin, if there is excess water in the fibers, return it to the machine for another spin cycle.
Holding the suede underside, shake the hide to fluff the fleece, and remove creases.
**DO NOT tumble dry or you will ruin your hide.**
To dry, lay the hide over a clothesline folded in half with the wool side facing out.
Do not expose the suede underside to direct sunlight and heat, as this will cause the leather to harden.
Once the fleece is dry, you may finish drying the suede underside by laying the sheepskin flat, suede side up, or draping it across a chair.
**Avoid direct heat** such as a fire, heater, or hair dryer.
As the sheepskin dries, shake it out every so often to encourage the suede underside to stay soft.
Use a wide tooth comb on long-wool fleeces to preserve the curl pattern & refluff the fibers.
